Everything you need to know about the 3 best art galleries in Barcelona

For those who still do not know, Barcelona is considered one of the Spanish meccas of art; taking into account that according to official data extracted by statista.com, in 2019 Barcelona had nothing more and nothing less than 181 art galleries, 13 more even than the Madrid capital.

Even so, of all of them we can highlight three that stand out above the others both for their successful location, as well as for their beautiful architecture and interior design and above all, and perhaps most importantly, for the quality of the artists who exhibit in them.

These are:

PIGMENT GALLERY

(Carrer Trafalgar, 70)

We started with the Pigment gallery, which opened its doors in January 2016, with the desire to adapt to the changing society in an interactive way and with the main purpose of bringing contemporary art to anyone with artistic concerns and sensibilities.

Focused on the promotion and dissemination of contemporary art, in a line that goes from modern figuration to the purest abstraction; its objective is based on introducing new artists in capital letters, whether local or foreign.

In addition, Pigment Gallery is committed to making a reading of reality and current trends, although always away from fashions and clichés, looking for new voices that bring fresh air to the world of art and discovering, sharing and generating spaces for debate that are more beyond the mere expository fact.

Marlborough Gallery

(Carrer Enrique Granados, 6)

Founded in Madrid in 1992 under the direction of Pierre Levai; the Marlborough Gallery surprised with its first exhibition, showing the last ten years of Francis Bacon's work and becoming the last solo exhibition organized during the life of the well-known artist.

Later in 2006, Marlborough opened his gallery in Barcelona, where he continued his legacy in contemporary art and representing the most famous and prominent artists from around the country.

As an independent space that it is, to this day it continues to collaborate continuously with Marlborough (New York and London), to present the work of great international and emerging artists in Spain.

In addition to standing out in the primary market by betting on the acquisition and sale of 20th century masterpieces, it also continues to work with the most important collections of museums and public spaces in Spain, by organizing individual and group projects and exhibitions of its artists.

A must-see, the Marlborough gallery is a true work of art in Barcelona.
