I will never forget the “baby smell” while doing this interview, because the wonderful and super creative woman behind this intro that you are now reading was carrying her 10-month-old son Mateo in her arms the day we met. Sweeeet…

Born and raised in Barcelona, Blanca Pérez Cabrero, fashion stylist, designer and creator of the jewelry brand BPCR, travels the entire world in search of exclusive materials and vintage treasures to then transform them and turn them into cheeky, unique and inimitable and -more importantly-, wearable creations.

As soon as the interview begins, I discover that Blanca loves Barcelona, traveling and everything that tells a story and feeds her curiosity. She describes herself as a true aesthete, enjoying the simple things in life and above all a gourmet, “I love eating,” she confesses to me.

Hello Blanca, so nice to meet you. Please tell me a confessable secret:

I don’t really know what to say because I'm very transparent, but maybe and because at a certain time it was a lot of noise about it, on my wedding day I got married wearing a vintage dress that cost me 100 euros that I bought on sale at Vestiare Collective and then I added cuttings from old curtains that I bought in a store in La Bisbal (Gerona).

What do you do for a living?

I am a fashion designer and creator of the BPCR jewelry brand. I am also a freelance stylist for large and independent brands and I also work in creative direction. Sometimes I collaborate with brands without really being an “influencer” and I do it because it is fun and I make an extra money.

What has been your professional career until today?

I studied fashion design at IED Barcelona and when I left university I was hired as stylist at Mango. During that time I learned a lot and then I started working as a freelancer. Also As I have always liked to create and experiment... Little by little I began to design clothes and accessories for myself that my friends then asked me for and suddenly I started my own jewelry brand. My brand is based on vintage treasures that I later transformed into unique pieces. I wouldn't say that my jewelry brand is my profession, but a hobby to which I dedicate a lot of time. I have a lot of fun while doing it and my creations reflect my true personality: curious, a spark of madness and an order within disorder.

On a creative level… What are your future plans?

I just launched my new collection on the BPCR website and I'm also thinking about doing something else that is not related with jewellery ;)

What would you say is your greatest professional contribution to a city like Barcelona?

I believe that me, my work and my brand provides fun mixes, new ideas, an open and international vision of what fashion is and also an original and distinctive product with spark that has nothing to do with commercial.

According to your personal experience... What is the best thing about living in Barcelona?

Clearly, the sea. For me it is wonderful to be able to walk down three blocks and be in the beach. It is a small city with a lot to see and I think that once again the sea makes it big, it opens up the world, endless, vital...

What is your favorite corner of the city?

I really like walking through Borne.

And the most curious thing about Barcelona?

That we do not use terraces anymore! They are clearly wasted… And also how poorly maintained is “Las Ramblas” famous street.

What are your 3 favorite restaurants or bars in the city and why?

La Venta: I love the space, it gets the sun and has a terrace and it is a lifetime. I feel at home there.

Mantequerías Pirenaicas: breakfast and lunch are very good and it is also traditional.

Bar del Pla: it has a bar where you can eat, it is small and I trust it so much that I always say “bring me whatever you want” to the waiters.

If someone who has never been to Barcelona asked you... What can I not miss, do, or visit?

Stroll through the Borne and end up having a raclette. Visit the typical significant sites of Barcelona: La Pedrera, Casa Batlló, Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell... Go to the Fundació Miró museum and enjoy the views from Montjuic. Try Xemei restaurant and end the day having some cocktails on a hotel rooftop such as Casa Fuster.

What is your favorite plan in the city?

Going for a walk and doing vintage shopping!

If you wouldn't live in Barcelona... Where would you live?

Marrakesh! I love getting lost in its streets.

And if Barcelona was a person... Who would it be?

Gaudi.

Last but not least... Mention someone I should do this interview to:

Sol Pardo. She would tell you a thousand stories… And of course my father: the sculptor Eduardo Pérez-Cabrero.

Thanks Blanca, all note it!
